Battlestar Galactica...do I dare to hope?
The new Battlestar Galactica mini-series starts tonight on Sci-Fi Channel. I'm a sucker for this kind of stuff and I've been looking forward to this since I heard about it early this year. But let's face it, it probably won't be good. My hope lies in the writer, Ron Moore, who wrote for many of the good years on Star Trek: the Next Generation.
Galactica has a spot in my heart similar to Star Wars. It was on when I was 10 - exacly the right age for a boy who loved space adventures. I got the recently released box set of the original show and I'm much more interested in the bonus features than the show itself. Frankly, quite a few of the episodes were bad. They had big problems on that show due to it being rushed from a mini-series to a weekly show and the writing suffered the most.
They hope to turn this into a weekly series as well if the mini-series is well received. That would be fine with me, sci-fi series have really gone downhill since the end of Babylon 5 and the rut that the Star Trek shows have fallen into.
I do have hope...
