Casdra Software - Platforms
Here is the long delayed Casdra Software Update. I'll start by discussing platforms, and talk about the apps and new projects in future posts.
I currently have software for the Palm, Pocket PC and Macintosh platforms. The Palm is by far the most successful for me and that is where I plan to spend most of efforts. I plan to keep Cribbage Partner up to date on the Pocket PC but I don't have any plans for additional development there. The Mac is an odd situation. I now use Macs for all of my development and day-to-day business (a PowerBook G4 for my ferry commute and a 1GB G4 eMac for home that doubles as the casdra.com web server. Also, all of this stated on the Mac with MacCribbage so I'm interested in developing for the platform. But expectations for games are so much higher on the Mac that I'm not sure I have the time to put in to develop a quality title. Learning the Mac Cocoa framework is on my list of things to do, so that might lead me to some good ideas. Finally I'm quite interested in the Danger Hiptop platform (I'm typing this post on a T-Mobile Color Sidekick). I'm not sure if there is a good business there yet but I am looking into it. A port of Cribbage Partner would certainly be my first project.
Now that I've got my Palm code building on Mac OS X, I hope to get some needed updates for my Palm apps and to hopefully start a new project. I'll give an update about the state of each app soon.
