Fun with family

The holiday break has been very nice. Christmas day had a truly amazing display of present opening, as there were gifts for my 9 and 1-year-olds and my 5-year-old cousin. Everyone ended up happy with their gifts. My wife's side of the family is seriously into Christmas gifts so it is a sight to behold when the whole family is together.

For the Media Queue I got Stephen Baxter's Manifold Trilogy, and a newcomer to the list, Dr. Phil's weight loss book. I told my mother-in-law I'd read it with an open mind. He claims that his system has no calorie counting or any analogues like Weight Watchers food points. I'm interested in how he pulls off this trick. I'll report in a review when I finish. On DVD I got The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Finally, I got Tony Hawk's Underground for the PS2. This goes on the long video game queue. I actually have several games in progress now: SSX 3, Project Gotham Racing 2, and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

I've been working on the basball draft site and it is done...except for some testing. I need to make sure the email routines still work but I can't do it from here since I'm not on Speakeasy's network. I brought along my wireless router and plugged it into the net here so I've been doing all of this work from the sofa :-)

Disappointingly, Matrix Revolutions is not playing here, even at the second run theater. It looks like I'll be waiting for DVD for it. I brought along my extended edition DVD's of the first two Lord of the Rings films to catch these folks up before seeing The Return of the King. We are halfway through the first so far.

We've watched two new movies on DVD here, the new Freaky Friday and The Medallion. I'm going to start on reviews right after this post (I'm with the family waiting to get seated at a new restaurant on a Friday night.)
