M's Off-season Disaster
The unbelievably bad offseason continues today for the Mariners. So far they've thrown money at a bullpen problem they did not have, let their centerfielder leave for nothing, picked up an outfielder who won't be able to hit at Safeco any better than Cameron did, picked up a "solution" for third base who (along with most of the rest of the team) can't hit left-handed pitching, and now they've traded the only decent hitter on their bench for one of the worst hitters in baseball. OMG!
Here is a quick and dirty rundown of last year's team and the one that has been assembled so far using VORP (value over replacement player).
Ugh!
Update: I added Edgar's line...how could I forget Edgar!?!?
