Signed First Edition
I'm in the middle of Neal Stephenson's Quicksilver and in the bookstore last night I picked up a signed first edition of the second volume in the cycle, The Confusion. Stephenson is one of my favorite authors and he's on my always buy list. So, how's Quicksilver going, you ask? These three book are extensions of Cryptonomicon which I enjoyed but was extreamly deep. You really had to pay attention and these are more of the same. The key difference is that these are taking place in the mid 1600's to early 1700's. Progenetors of the Waterhouse and Shaftoe characters from Cryptonomicon are here mingleing with Newton, Leibniz, and others of the time. Again, it interesting, facinating...and difficult. But well worth it so far.
