Snow Crash Coming 

The virtual reality setup described in Neal Stephenson's "Snow Crash relied on the main character's (in this case Hero Protagonist) computer firing lasers onto special glasses to draw the virtual world before his eyes. Microvision is working on a system of lasers fired directly onto the retina to superimpose images onto the normal field of vision.
